Limerick Horizontal, watercolour, 2011

This painting is a sister to the previous one and done from the same property.  The ground is the brown and rust colour of old leaves and evergreen needles with purple tree shadows running over it. Water is usually darker at the near shore lightening as it goes up. This is the opposite of sky which is lighter blue at the bottom (horizon) and darker toward the top of the picture. It makes perfect sense if you remember the water is reflecting the sky. I often use ultramarine blue for water and cerulean or cobalt blue for sky.
